Shawnette (Byer) Metzger
Class of 1990
Shawnette
was First Team All-State in Volleyball during her senior year and
Honorable Mention All-State in Volleyball during her junior year. She
earned First Team All-MAC honors in Volleyball during her junior and
senior years. Shawnette was First Team District 8 as a senior in
Volleyball. She was Player of the Year in the Midwest Athletic
Conference in Volleyball her senior year. Shawnette was a member of the
Volleyball team that finished as Regional Runners-Up in 1989. She
currently holds the school record in Volleyball for aces in a season
with 77 and serve reception with 92%. Shawnette earned three varsity
letters in Volleyball, three varsity letters in Basketball, and two
Varsity letters in Track. She currently holds the school record in
Basketball for most assists in a career with 310 and most assists in a
game with 12. Shawnette was a member of the 4x200 meter relay team that
finished third at the Regional Track Meet. She attended Southwestern
Michigan Junior College for two years where she was named First Team
All-American in Volleyball. Shawnette then attended Nicholls State
University for three years and was named Honorable Mention All-American
in Volleyball.
