Parkway High School
My
name is Mr. Falk and I will be your Librarian/Media Center
Specialist. I encourage you to take advantage of the many
opportunities available here at your Library Media Center. I am here to
assist you in your search for knowledge and understanding. The media
center offers a wide variety of resources which you will find listed
below along with some guidelines to be followed in order for everyone to
benefit.
General Guidelines
The library is open everyday at the following times:
7:30 A.M. - 3:20 P.M.
You
MUST have your agenda signed by your teacher to use the LMC. For those
in Study Hall wishing to use the LMC report to study hall and sign out
to the Media Center. The LMC is for your use. Please do not abuse the
privilege or be loud or rude. If you display inappropriate behavior,
you will be asked to leave. This is a public space and as such, do your
part to keep the Media Center clean. You may come once daily, twice –
with permission - if you have good reason and are working hard on your
studies. If you have extra research to do and need more time and
materials, please see Mr. Falk. Once you have signed into the Media
Center, you are here for that entire period. To leave the Media Center,
you must have your Student Handbook as your hall pass.
When
in the LMC you are to keep the talk to a BARE MINIMUM. There are only
two people allowed at a table. If you need to ask another student for
help, you will do so standing and only for a short period of time.
IN ORDER TO USE THE INTERNET you
MUST have a signed STUDENT ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY AND CONTRACT turned in
to Mrs. Bollenbacher. You will not be allowed to use the internet
and/or the network without this document signed. If you are found using
the internet without this document signed you will lose all school
computer privileges indefinitely and will be sent to the principal for
further discipline. If your parent does not sign the form and there is a
particular topic that you need information on please let me know and I
would be glad to look something up for you on the Internet. I just ask
that you are patient and don’t wait to ask until the last day the report
is due!! You are not allowed
to play games on the computers, use email accounts, on any other
computer use that is not academic in nature. The computers are for educational purposes and are not to be used as toys.
Checking Out Materials
You will be allowed to check out items for up to three weeksMagazines may NOT be
checked out. Older encyclopedias may be checked out overnight. Other
reference books may or may not be checked out, depending on the need.
Reserve books may not be checked out.
Overdue, Damaged, and Lost Materials
No
fines are charged for overdue materials. Students MUST PAY for lost
or damaged materials. If overdue books are not returned, library books
may not be checked out for the remainder of the year and coming years.
If you have not paid for damaged or lost materials at the end of a
grading period your grade card will be held until you do so.
LMC DISCIPLINE POLICY
1st OFFENSE – WARNING AND ASKED TO LEAVE THE LMC IF THE OFFENSE INTERRUPTS THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
2nd OFFENSE – TWO WEEKS OUT OF THE LMC
3rd OFFENSE – FOUR WEEKS OUT OF THE LMC AND A VISIT WITH THE PRINCIPAL
Additional offenses will be dealt with on an individual basis if the need arises.
