Prom Stuff

Junior Class Prom News

The planning committee is ready to start but all votes need to be in.Your class has decided, as with each class in the past, that $20 will be collected for class dues. This takes the place of any additional fundraiser. Your dues must be paid in order to attend prom. Keep in mind the $20 will pay for your prom meal as well as your souvenir. If your prom date is not a current PArkway Junior or Senior, you will need to pay $10 for their prom ticket. Several of your classmates responded to my earlier letter, submitting their e-mail adress for communication. If you would still like to do this, please write your name and e-mail adress at the bottom of your prom theme ballot. this will be a quicker and easier way to correspond throughout the school year. One last thought: Please inform your parents that we will have a prom-planning meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school commons.

Class Reminders

  • Search for and apply to outside scholarship programs that are only available to Sophomores and Juniors
  • Think about colleges to which you might want to apply. If possible, visit some campuses in spring of junior year.
  • In the spring of junior year, research outside scholarships to which you'll apply during your senior year.
  • Take the SAT or the ACT in the spring of your junior year.
  • Take the PSAT / NMSQT in October of each year. If you take it as a junior, you will be entered in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
  • If you have a job, do your taxes each year (ask your parents for help). Knowing about tax forms and documents will be helpful when you have to fill out financial aid applications.

Reminder: Guidance newsletters are posted on Parkway website under "Parent Stuff" and "Student Stuff". All websites are hyperlinked for ease in locating them. Also, check the Guidance Bulletin Board regularly for updates on scholarships and college visits.
