Yearbook is a unique course of study.  This course designs and creates a historical record of the years’ events.   Students interested in taking this course must fill out an information sheet.  The information on this sheet will determine if a student is chosen for the yearbook staff.  Once chosen, the staff concentrates on photography, layout design, advertising, fund-raisers, and ad sales.  The course calls for out of schoolwork.  This work is directly involved with the production of the yearbook and an individual must be self-motivated to complete such tasks.  The course does call for some out of school travel between businesses and events.

Students will refresh their keyboarding skills and develop quality keyboarding habits.  Through the use of the Microsoft Office package, students will explore the fundamentals of using Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.  Students will also learn to develop Desktop Publishing projects with Adobe desktop publishing software.

Students will learn to develop web pages, Flash programs, and integrate these items for full production.  Students will learn to use these items in a mock Marketing setup.  Along with the development of the website and Flash programs, students will learn marketing skills and

communication skills.

Students will explore the world of Accounting and Personal Finance.  The students will learn business accounting, personal accounting, and money management skills.  The course will give students foundational skills in working with and accounting for money.  Recommended for students that are looking at a career in Accounting or students looking to major in Business.

Students will learn to apply their course material in real-world situations.  Students will work with area businesses and organizations to put their skill to work.  Students will be working on project from planning to completion and meeting the specifications of their clients.

Students will learn the fundamentals of law and law creation.  The course will have students working with law related issues, business law, and the court system.  Students will participate in a mock trial project.

Designed for students serving as officers in FBLA, Editors in School Publications, or students deemed necessary by the instructor for the success of their education plan.  Students will be required to complete required work for successful completion of the course work.

This course will explore the concepts of verbal, non-verbal, written, and electronic communications. The course is designed to help students in their ability to communicate with both small and large groups. Activities in the course will include using communication tools to become an effective communicator.
